Our objective is to sensitize, raise awareness and fight against the intrusion in the tourist accommodation offer.

Regulation of the housing sector for tourist and holiday use in the "Valencia Region"

From FEVITUR we believe in the necessity and the benefits of the regulation of the tourist housing sector. For this reason, we started working in 2018 with the Tourism Board of the Valencian Community to launch the first campaign of "awareness and fight against the intrusion in the tourist accommodation offer". Thanks to the Tourism Board of the Valencian Community, this year we present the "Welldone, Welcome" campaign, with which we want to thank the response that the initiative had last year and to demonstrate that IT IS POSSIBLE TO PRACTICE A RESPONSIBLE AND SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN THE TOURIST HOUSING SECTOR, as in other housing modalities, without false debates or opposing positions.

Against the intrusion in Tourist Housing

The Generalitat Valenciana (GVA) had already started in the beginning of 2018, a campaign against the intrusion in the tourist housing sector in Gandía (Valencia), to end the legal fraud of some of the tourist homes that operated clandestinely in the city. The campaign recalled that in the event that the owner of the house does not register the tourist activity in an official manner, it could be sanctioned with up to 90,152 Euros (the highest stretch) and a flat closure for three years. In parallel, together with the General Council of Schools of Property Administrators of the Region, the GVA developed a guide for owners and users of this type of housing to be aware of their obligations to neighbours and the community.

But it was not until July 2018 that the Tourism Board of the Valencian Community, through a specific call for grants, allowed interested companies and associations to present projects that transcended inspection and punitive actions. Under this call, FEVITUR presented the campaign · # Belegalmyfriend, which, due to its national and international impact, became the first major campaign in favour of the regulation of tourist housing.

This year FEVITUR presents "Welldone, Welcome", a campaign that emphasizes the need to welcome the tourist housing regulation and to find points of contact between the sector (owners and managers of tourist apartments) and the rest of the social agents (administration, local merchants, consumer associations, neighbourhood associations, etc ...);
